Funny Poem Oi dekha jai tal gash

The end of all human action is human happiness.

Man strives throughout his life to attain happiness. Happiness consists in the fulfillment of desires, in part or in whole. So defined, happiness may be both casual and regular. The fulfillment of a particular wish for instance, the craving of the sick to regain health or the desire of a student to pass an examination may bring casual happiness to the person concerned. But happiness in the sense in which philosophers have sought to define it and mankind is striving to attain it is what we call regular happiness. Regular happiness is an unattainable goal or attainable only in an imperfect form, often far short of the ideal that man has been cherishing. But that only serves to make happiness still more attractive and sought-after. Happiness, so far enjoyed by man, is contingent on certain conditions-external and internal. The first relate to some material possessions, either hereditary or acquired, and the second are concerned with some mental conditions which are entirely matters of ac…

Money may not mean everything, but its absence means the denial of everything.

Money is an important pre-condition of happiness, that is, the presence of at least a minimum security of existence. Those who ague that happiness is independent of earthly affluence and seek to trace it to indefinable subjective conditions, commit one fundamental mistake. Security may not definitely assure happiness, if other factors are lacking, but there is no doubt that economic insecurity drives away happiness from life, lock and stock and barred. So, wealth, at least an assured minimum of it, is absolutely indispensable for any aspiration to be happy, Other external conditions include soundness of health, success in ambition, social respectability and domestic peace. All these are, however, dependent largely on the possession of wealth.

Man lives fully only if he lives by giving up self-interest and self-conflict.

One should always compare oneself in life not with those who are better placed but with them who are worse. Thus we will find that many of us are better them many others. This will eliminate self-pity and dissatisfaction and introduce contentment. And there is no surer condition of happiness than contentment. Selfishness must be eschewed and life should be considered worth living only when it is lived for others. “The saints and prophets, reformers and revolutionaries, suffered untold miseries in life but were yet quit happy because the sense of dedication gave them a delight unassailable by any misery on earth. No life is happier than a full life. If we want to live a full life we should abandon self-interest and self-conflict. For this reason, the mind has to be trained and prepared by conscious effort.

Narrow patriotism is dangerous.

Patriotism is evidently a high-grade virtue, essential for the progress and independent existence of every country. About this there is no denial. But we should also owe our allegiance to the world and the entire humanity. While it is true that national patriotism is an indispensable virtue for every sound-hearted man, it is not right to allow this sentiment to eclipse other considerations, such as those that we owe to humanity. I must love my own country. But I should not hate others. I value my own freedom, but I should not enclave others to secure my country’s prosperity. To make patriotism a really noble ideal, it is necessary to equate its demands with the ends of humanity at large. Else patriotism will be bigoted and degenerate into a bad and harmful feeling. Patriotism in itself is not enough and often dangerous. Love of motherland must not blind us to the obligations that we owe to the world. The flavor of patriotism must be sobered by a proper respect for other people’s inali…

Charity begins at home.

Charity is applied in general in the sense of love of fellow men, arising out of an innate quality of natural affection for all creations of God. There is a vast importance of charity in human life, so we should make efforts to develop in us the quality of charity as perfectly as we can. To the end, regular practice is necessary. The beginning of the practice must be made at home as it can never be practiced so well as at one is own home, in one’s day-to-day dealings with those who are close by. When we cultivate this at home and grow a habit of being charitable, we can profitably extend it outside, besides, it is easier to practice charity at home. Our dealing with our near ones flow from the better part of our nature. We are by nature prove to love them, do our best for them and also convince at their mistakes and forgive their failings. At home we are also generally free from those considerations, which influence our behavior with outsiders. Hence, the home is the best training-gro…

Hope springs eternal human breast.

In life’s battle courage helps most and hope is the fountain from which courage originates. But for this hopefulness, we would lose heart and give way to despair this making and end of all efforts. If there is any single food on which the soul lives, it is hope. I know that I may die at any time. Yet I hope that I may also live for many more years to come. This keeps up my courage and urges me on to action. History furnishes us with repeated instance of great achievements having been made by dint of sheer hope. When the Spanish Armada was approaching the shores of Britain, The British employed their meager resources but with hope and confidence. And the result was that the mighty Armada was beaten back by the tiny British Navy.

Avarice leads to sin and sin to death.

Greed is universally condemned as a vice. Hundreds of stories and fables have been spun out to show how greed rains human life. Hardly there is a congregation of any faith in which greed is not made the first target of attack. All the scriptures have this one thing in common outright condemnation of greed. In short, right from the birth of the first religion till this day, efforts, vigorous efforts, are being made to keep man away from this heinous vice of greed. Yet, it is a paradoxical truism that man is greedy-perpetually greedy, as greedy today, when enlightenment has reached its zenith, as he was thousands of years ago when knowledge was unborn. A dispassionate inquest into the cause of this will show that greed is in the very nature of man, so ingrained in his marrow and blood that it is impossible for living man to eschew greed. Hence the failure of all attacks against the fortress of greed.

Failure is the pillar of success.

Man has an inherited instinct to gain success in life. But failure may come in the way of achieving success. So, we should analyze the cause of failure and its necessity is never at an end. Usually we say that the reason of our failure is bad luck. It is a very dangerous conclusion. It leads us now here. It makes us incapable of making further effort. When we are taught to think of this world, we think of its wrongs, miseries and failure as a part of the perfect natural order. Then our reason is atrophied, our logic is hypnotized and our effort to improve our lot fades away into a passive acquiescence of things as they are, or, still worse, into a slavish adulation of the absolute in whose hands we are mere pawns. In life’s battle, therefore, fatalism should have no room. Instead of trying in vain to trace failure to fate, we should try to find its cause in and around ourselves when it will be clear that our failures are due mostly to our own defects, in part to circumstances both wit…

Smoking or health- the choice is yours.

Nicotine, methyl, methyl alcohol, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, arsenic, benzopurenc and several other acids are found in the smoke of the aigrette. These are very harmful to health. There may cause heart attack by repressing the blood arteries and kindles the circulation system of blood. Thus a person suffers from heart attack. These may cause cancer. These may cause some harm to the foetus in the womb of pregnant women. Smoking is a dangerous habit. People addicted to smoking might become victims of cancer. And that cancer is a fatal disease indeed. Medical men with their superior knowledge of the dangers of smoking should be the leaders of the campaign. They should come forward.

Health is wealth.

Health is at the root of all happiness. One should take exercise regularly in order to maintain good health. Moreover, one should take Balanced Diet and fruits. Good health is the key to success. An unhealthy man cannot enjoy life. Health means the sound state of the body and mind. A healthy man is really happy.  Because health is the source of all happiness. A healthy man can do any work. He can eat to his fill. He can enjoy sound sleep at night. He has no anxieties. He has peace of mind. So, it is truly said that health is the most valuable of all things in the world. He alone can give us bless. It is more valuable than the king’s crown. It is more precious than the peacock throne. In order to possess a good health and live a happy life. We must follow the rules of health. A poor man with good health is much happier than a king who lost his health. It is rightly said that health is wealth.

Cut your coat according to your cloth.

In the case of individual, one should lead his life according to his caplet. If he has the ability to lead a luxurious life he can spend more. But if he has not that ability he cannot lead a luxurious life. So he should pursue a way of life which he can lead. We should be satisfied with what we can earn in our honest way. In a poor country like Bangladesh people must avoid luxuries of all kinds at all cost. Some people are habituated to earn money in the unfair way. Dishonesty is in born and ingrained in them. They can spend much more than what they should. They forget that days are not far off when the poor and the distressed will rise up and snatch away their rights. At best the educated people should be honest. If they are polluted the nation shall lose all hopes for peace and prosperity.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

A man who is determined to do a thing overcomes many a time all the impediments and obstacles of that wore by dint of his that very determination and succeeds in accomplishing it. It is almost the same thing if we think that we can do a work or we are able to accomplish it. To resolve firmly to do a work is nothing but another name of performance in many cases. For this reason, it often seems that there is a sort of omnipotence in eager determination. The strength of Swarow’s character lay rested on the force of his will. If anybody failed to perform any work, he used to say, “You can resolve in halves only.” Like Pichelien and Napoleon, he also wanted that the word “impossible” should be deleted or omitted from the dictionary. He hated works like “I don’t know”, “I cannot do” or “It’s impossible.” He would say, “Learn, do and try.” His biographer has said of him that he has left the examples of those virtues which he embedded in the heart of man and how for the accomplishments can be…

Man is the architect of his own fate.

Human beings should not believe in fatalism. Belief in predestination is the act of cowards. So man should not indiscriminately belief in predestination. He should cross the hindrance of life and should face the odds of life courageously. Man has the reasoning power. So he can differentiate good and evil and choose the right way to live a correct life. Thus he can make the plan of his life and can implement that. Man is the architect of his own fate. If he makes proper division of his time and does his duties accordingly he is sure to prosper in life. But if he does otherwise, he is sure to repent when it is too late. Our life is nothing but the sum total of hours, days and years. Youth is the golden season of life. In youth mind is soft and can be molded in any form we like. If we waste the previous time of our youth we shall have to suffer afterwards. Youth is called the seed time of life. If we sow good seeds in our early life, we shall reap good harvest when we grow up to manhood.

A man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder.

A ship without a rudder drifts at the mercy of the wind and waves. Even if it does sink, it cannot reach the goal. Similarly man without a definite aim cannot succeed in life. As he cannot fix his mind upon any particular object, the simply wastes his time and energy in trying one thing after another in a half-hearted way. He soon loses self-confidence and feels quite helpless in the sea of life. So it is necessary for every man to have a definite aim in life. And his aim should be fixed upon at an early age after careful consideration of the natural bent and aptitudes of a person in his boyhood. Once this decision is made, it should be struck to, whatever difficulties may come in the way. This will not only enable the person to reach his particular goal but also strengthen his mind and character, leading him to success in all walks of life.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

The proverb means that the writer exercises greater influence- wider and more enduring-on men and the world than a military conqueror. Alexander the Great, Chengiz Khan and Napoleon were among the greatest generals of the past. But the empires they build up extended only to a limit space in Europe and Asia, Even these limited empires passed away with their death. But books like the Geeta, the Bible, the Koran, and poets like Shakespeare and Robindranath have conquered the hearts of men all the world over. And their influence has not abated with the lapse of time. Let us take writers like Rousseau, Voltaire, Karl Marx, Tolstoy and Gorky. Their writings inspired the epoch-making revolutions in France and Russia, and are influencing the thoughts and ideas of many other countries. All these prove that a great writer is more powerful than a great soldier.

Make hay while the sun shines.

Hay is grass cut and dried, to be used as food for cattle and horses. Farmers have to turn it over and over again in the sun till it is dry. As the sun shine is rare in cold climates, a farmer has to be very prompt and active when it comes. If he misses one chance, there is no knowing when the sun will appear again. The grass may be spoilt altogether, and then he will be great difficulty about food for his cattle and horse. The proverb thus means that we must not let any opportunity slip, but make prompt and full use of it whenever it comes. Our life is uncertain. Who knows what may happen to us even tomorrow? We may be quit hale and hearty today, but tomorrow we may be ill. So, if we miss an opportunity today in expectation of making use of it tomorrow, we may not be able to avail ourselves of it at all. Moreover, opportunities do not always come. If we miss one opportunity, we may miss it for ever and suffer in consequence. Therefore, we must always take full and prompt advantage o…

No risk, no gain. Or, Nothing venture, nothing have.

Everybody desires success in life, but few attain it One of the principal reasons for this failure is that many people dare not take risks. Life is not a bed of roses. It is full of troubles and difficulties. These have to be overcome if we want to success in life. So, we should face them with courage. We may fail at first and suffer in consequence. But that should not take us give up in despair. We should instead regard the initial failures and sufferings as the price of ultimate success. We should think of the daring discovers and explorers of lands and the suffering they had to bear before success came to them. Where would we have got pearls from if divers had not ventured into the dangers under the sea? A general who is afraid of taking risks can never win any victory. Similarly, a person who dares not take risks cannot achieve success in the struggle of life. But we must not be rash or hasty. We should think well about the possibilities before we venture upon a thing. Hasty acti…

A stitch in time saves nine.

If a piece of cloth is torn, even slightly, it should be stitched at once. Otherwise the tear will get wider and wider and may require nine (that is, many) stitches to repair it. The tear may even get too wide for mending, and the cloth may become altogether useless. So, the proverb teaches us to take prompt action against all ills at their earlier stage. This will save us from serious troubles in the future. When a person feels ill he should take proper steps from the very first to control the illness. Otherwise, the illness may take an acute turn. What could have been cured with a few doses of medicine taken in time may end in depth in spite of the best but untimely medical help. The same is the case with the evil habit of man. It can be easily checked at the early stage. If neglected at this stage, it takes deep root and cannot be taken off. So, prompt steps should be taken wherever anything wrong is noticed. [B.C.S Examination-1991/1992]

The real dignity of a man lies not in what he has, but in what he is.

Generally, a man who has vast wealth, enviable titles or high academic degrees may be regarded as dignified man. But man’s dignity does not depend on these extraneous factors. Dignity is commanded by intrinsic worth. It is the best achievement of his life. High academic degrees by unfair means do not raise man high in the estimation of the society. Rather he is held to disrepute in all quarters if his conduct and character are responsible. Evan a man of noble birth may stop very law in conduction his life and lose his inherited dignity. Thus all such dazzling possessions are but empty moonshine in the way to become dignified. A dignified man is he who follows the higher values of life and maintains good manners in all circumstances. He is gentle in nature, well in behavior, honest in thought, truthful in communication, kind to the poor, friendly to all and diligent in his vocation of life. Even if a man having such qualities does not possess vast wealth, does not have high academic d…

All’s well that ends well.

When we start an action it has an ending. We can begin to act in a mood and hope of success, but there is a possibility of failure. Because we cannot retain the energy with which we started our work or any hindrance may hinder. There is a vast gap between the beginning and the end. A bad ending demolishes all the earlier achievements. People praise a person who achieves a great reputation, but when he fails to achieve anything in his later life, those people blame him for his failure. So last impression is worthy, previous impression is worthless. One who rejoices in initial success, will suffer a severe disappointment in the final failure. So, beginning is not important. What matters is result- good performance in his class work and homework and tries all the year hard, but he cannot attain a brilliant result in the final examination, everyone will blame him and rebuke him for his final failure. Result should be the ultimate goal of every endeavor. So, everyone should keep in mind t…

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.

Superficially it seems that the kings and rules are very happy person’s who lead a joyful and comfortable life. They have no tension to earn money and no anxiety for the next morrow, whereas the common people suffer from these problems incessantly. But this is not a correct nation. Because the kings and rules are always worried about their duties and responsibilities. They are always concerned to perform their duties properly to hold their position. They are always worried about the problems of the state and of the people. They are always careful about wars, court intrigues, conspiracies, subject’s revolt, aggression and attack of the foreign countries. They cannot sleep at night. They cannot cherish the comfort and luxury of life. They cannot find any time of think about themselves. But a man without power can enjoy rest and comfort in life. He can sleep at night without any disturbance. He has no worries and anxieties about anything except himself. But a man of power has much dutie…

Hunger is the best sauce.

By being a person one has desire and expectation. But the most severe and important among them is our desire for food-hunger. This is the instruct that we try to satisfy at the fist available opportunity. When we are hungry, all food seem to be very tasty through it may not appear to be so under normal circumstances. A hungry man seeks for food and then anything eatable serves the purpose. Hunger drives man to such an extreme point that he resorts to eating anteing-even snakes and lizards. A man who is well-fed can take the liberty of choosing one item from the other. He may find that the particular item of food may not be up to the snack as far as table is concerned. But as beggars are not supposed to be choosers, a hungry man cannot have the liberty of choosing items of foods that suits him better. To him everything available seems to be tasty-for hunger is the best sauce. This phenomena is applicable to other aspects of our life as well. If we are in extreme desire anything be it …

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Love if power manifests through direct possession of authority or in being a “king maker” in the individual sphere. There are many who will not be a minister but want ministers to come to them every now and then and would their favour. In the national sphere, a whole national is sometimes maddened by this passion and tries to bring under its sway weaker neighbours. This in the past has led to territorial imperialism. In modern age, more power is sought by big nations to facilitate trading and to gratify national aspirations of international leadership. But unchecked power is associate with serious drawbacks. It often degrades the men of power, particularly under the influence of unfair means that they employ to secure and maintain power. In the national sphere, unchecked power leads to the suppression of human liberties abroad which, ultimately, reacts upon the liberties at home.  [B.C.S Examination- 17th B.C.S:1995/1996]
